3 BARRIERS TO STUDY

This manual has been designed so that a student learns step by step. The student needs to be comfortable about each step before going on to the next. Do the drill enough times to achieve this goal.

Players learn best by demonstration, by feel, rather than wordy explanations. Be sure to DO the drill as shown in the easiest way possible.

If you feel that you have made too big a jump and that there is a loss of control, check if you are putting too much difficulty into the drill. The toss may be too fast for the student or too far from him.

If you adjust this and the student still doesn’t feel comfortable, go back to the previous drill to see if something was missed there.

If the student is confused, check to see if there is a concept or a word that the student didn’t understand and clear it up.

Any of these things can distract the students’ attention and affect their performance.
